Bhilwara Energy plans 900 MW Nyamjang Chhu hydro electric project

Bhilwara Energy Ltd is planning to set up 900 MW hydro electric project in Zimithang village in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The project involves setting up of 11.2 meter high concrete barrage across river Nyamjang Chhu and a underground power house with six units of 150 MW. The run-of-the-river scheme will require a land of 176.5 ha of which 40 ha will be forest land. The total project cost is estimated at Rs. 72,282 million and is likely to be completed in 60 months.

In October 2015, the project has received environmental clearance and the capacity is revised to 780 MW.
